How is solar generation calculated?

We estimate generation from weather data (MJ/m² → kWh) using system defaults and apply system efficiency, temperature derating, roof orientation and tilt, and inverter clipping. In the case of multiple roofs, the contribution of each array based on its position and power is aggregated; inverter clipping is then applied to the total if applicable.

My coordinates are incorrect.

Browsers, especially on devices connected to WiFi can sometimes pick up your location as your internet provider's location. Try to refresh the browser, this should help. Alternatively you can type in the address if the system can't locate you - you will be prompted. If you set up your Home coordinates incorrectly, you can reset it in the Settings > System Configuration.

Which inverter brands are supported and which are tested?

FoxESS is tested and working. We're working on others. Manufacturers don't have test APIs, so we're working with various kit owners to develop a solution. If you wish to help, please contact us via the feedback form.

How do I connect my FoxESS inverter and what credentials are required?

You need to provide the inverter serial number and API token in the Inverter settings, then use the in-app "Test Connection" to validate. The API token can be found at www.foxesscloud.com (old version). You may be prompted to log into the new version, but there's no access to the API key there. Once logged in, click on User (head icon in top right) > User Profile > API Management > Generate API key.

How do I sign up / sign in and what happens to my local settings?

Sign in via Google or email/password. Your settings will be saved online, so you'll have access to the same data from different devices. Guest settings are stored in your browser but can be imported into your online account once signed in.

What is the free trial and how can I manage/cancel my subscription?

A 7-day trial is applied at checkout; manage or cancel via the Stripe customer portal linked to your account email.

If I cancel mid-month do I get a refund?

No, this is not possible. Unless you delete your account at the same time, you will have access to the service until the next billing period.

How do I delete my account and what gets removed?

The deletion button is located in Account at the very bottom in "Danger zone". Click Delete My Account. You have to type "DANGER" to confirm. The process cancels your subscription, if any, and deletes your online account data immediately and automatically; this cannot be reversed. You should receive a confirmation email at the linked email address within minutes. Check your spam folder if not received.

How does the system know my energy deficit?

When you setup your system, you can enter your estimated annual usage. The system calculates the average per day, but also applies seasonal variation. It defaults to 20% (i.e. average +20% in middle of winter) but it can be customised.
